Cristóbal Labra Pérez, was not a player, nor a worker of the Dairy Industry, this young man was one of the thousand 500 columnists of the agricultural contingent Luis Ramírez López, who came to Isla de Pinos to help recover the lost and advance a lot, in the wake of cyclone Alma.

On June 15, 1966, at eight o'clock in the morning, he arrived in this homeland, from Havana Tite, as his companions affectionately told him. He was driver of the route 20 in the Lisa, very dedicated to work, and responsible for what he was when he arrived, to this island, designated as head of the dairy 16 of the farm La Reforma.

Only seven days after arriving at the camp, a fire breaks out in one of the wooden ships filled with chemical fertilizer. He immediately went to put down the fire, but he could not, three times they took him out and returned to the site because in his conscience "they could not let lose the goods of the people".

The toxic gases suffocate him, and he faints, his companions take him to the military hospital of La Fe, where they try to save him, but he died on the afternoon of June 23, 1966, at the age of only 27.

In this way the life of one of the most loyal young people to the Revolution was consumed, which in such a short time contributed to the economic and social development of this island.

His remains rest in the cemetery of the Guatao, in Punta Brava, Pinar del Río, his native province, but every June 23, in the same place where the warehouse was built a marble obelisk with the emblem of the Union of Young Communists, and a jar with the same engraved message, where the columnists of the Grouping of the Decade of the 60, together with residents of the Reform, pay tribute to this martyr who decided to leave his dreams in Havana and share with the pineros to build a better Island.
