Alexei Fernández Rubio, head of the Civil Defense body in Isla de la Juventud, informed the Municipal Defense Council (CDM) of the territory that in 48 hours it was possible to restore 99.8 percent (%) of the electric service, Impacted by Hurricane Rafael on November 6.
It was stated that the 21 circuits were affected, and in a few hours 33,459 customers have this benefit and 53 are pending reconnection.
Geordanys Suárez, General Director of that local entity, highlighted the formation of a special brigade to resume service in Cayo Largo del Sur, where the winds and precipitation associated with the meteor were felt more strongly.
In addition, land, air and sea freight transport has been restored, although passenger transport is still pending; 944 cubic metres of solid waste have been collected to date, of which 692 cubic metres are in the capital city.
Rafael Ernesto Licea Mojena, CDM Vice President, stressed the need to speed up recovery efforts, given that the territory was not seriously damaged.
Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, President of the CDM, mentioned the revitalization of production and services activities as well as the importance of dedicating this saturday to the production of organoponic food in self-supply farms.
Finally, Lorenzo Rodríguez highlighted the work of workers and cadres in Cayo Largo del Sur so that this tourist destination is ready for the start of the high season.
